I haven't forgotten, or forsake you on purpose.

Getting the girls, and myself in back to school mode is harder than I ever imagined. Highschool and Middle School registration seems to be almost as daunting as my college registration!

On top of that, I have taken my new love head on. I am staying pretty booked with photography shoots! I honestly couldn't be much happier!
Here are a few sneak peeks of my latest shoots!

This is a photo I took of the oldest girl, Anna. My good friend works for Family Violence Prevention and asked me to recreate an idea they had seen and were wanting to use for an Ad to raise awareness against Family Violence! What better model than someone who has lived it themselves? I think it turned out just breath-taking. I hope this opens a door, and gives her a voice to her own story- as well as speaks to others who have been in her shoes.

has been a pretty amazing one! The girls and I spent all of Thursday visiting with my parents in Mountain View. We usually go about once a week. ( It's only about a two hour drive.) It gives us an opportunity to get out of the house for the day, and killing some of that teenage girl summer time boredom syndrome. We always have so much fun on our little weekly trip. We sing, dance, and have girl talk on our little drive there and back. Megan's favorite part of the trip is always when she gets her vanilla milkshake from dads Old Fashioned Soda Fountain. :)

I also had my first paid photoshoot this week! I was so nervous I could cry! But in the end it all came together even better than I expected! Here is a few shots from that shoot!

Anna's best friend came and stayed the night last night, so we ran down to the lake (which is only about 5 minutes from our house) and took a few best friend shots!

I also got a few cute ones of the hubbs and the girls!

When this whole mess started and we realized that we were going to have to raise the girls, it seemed like everything was falling apart. Things are finally settling down, and it seems a little more like things are finally starting to fall in place instead.

so with the etsy shop closing, and giving up the office, I have been needing more and more an outlet to express myself. I have fallen in love with photography all over again. I haven't ever taken any classes, or know anything about it really. I have just always been drawn towards capturing a moment, or telling a story through a photo. So, I thought I would share with you some photos I have taken lately!

After much careful thought, a few tears, a little heartbreak, and a little sigh of relief-- I decided to close my etsy. After giving up my office so that both the girls were able to have their own bedrooms and moving everything out to my forsaken garage, I decided it just wasn't going to work anymore. Not right now at least. I plan on holding on to most of my little beauties, and pursuing something different with them. The dresses and what not may end up in a pop up shop later, who knows. Learning to adjust, and caring for two teenage girls is full time enough right now. I changed the website around a little to focus just on my photography ( which is exciting and new to me, and doesn't take up as much space!) Take a look around and let me know what you think!

summer bliss...

I know I promised to be back on Monday. My hiatus lasted a little longer than even I expected. The girls,the hubbs, and I went to my hometown for the weekend. It was utter summer bliss. There's nothing more uplifting than being surrounded by natures beauty, my girls giggling, and the smile on the hubbs's face. It was the break we all desperately needed. Saturday morning the hubbs and Meg woke up at the crack of dawn to do a little fishing on Mirror Lake. The lake was just as breath-taking (and green) as always. The fishing however wasn't very good. :(

We decided that they needed to play in the spring for a while to cool off. It's amazing how cool it was down by the natural cave spring.

We then headed out to the Indian Cave for a little family picnic!

After a few hours of swimming, followed up by a nice long nap, we packed up the truck and got ready for the DriveIn! We saw The Killers. (Cute movie!)

After Sunday morning church we headed on home! It was such a refreshing break and amazing weekend! Then the crazy week began... Monday we got a call that we had our emergency guardianship hearing for the girls on Tuesday. The judge granted us temporary guardianship. It's good to know that part is all over. We are all still settling in. It's really stressful at times, but worth it every time I see their smiling faces!

Thanks for being so patient with me during this trying time! I appreciate all the support my friends and readers have given me! I'll be back this week with some more inspirational and diy posts!

But don't worry, it's not going to be a long one! :) As if things couldn't manage to get any crazier around here ( learning how to take care of two teenage girls, getting their rooms together, finding a place for all my stuff, and other daily stresses). My wonderful hubbs added some to the stress this week when he had a heat stroke on Monday. :( It was really scarry, but after a day in the ER and lots of rest he is starting to feel better! I am however what seems like weeks behind on everything! I am taking a little break til Monday! See you then!

that taking care of two teenage girls could require so many hours of my day! I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I knew they were going to require a lot of time. I guess I just really didn't realize how fast a day goes by. We have been steadily working to get the girls acclimated to the thought of living back in Arkansas. We weren't sure where they would be living but after a lot of prayer, and thought, we decided to do whatever it takes for them to be living here full time. It's really what is in the best interest of the girls. It's definitely not been easy however. We are starting to rearrange the house to give each girl their own bedroom. This means the hubbs gives up his work out room, and I give up my office. I'm not sure where on earth all of my stuff will go. And it also means another delay in getting everything listed on my website. But I haven't given up hope. Just be patient with me! :)
The hubbs promised the girls that he would take them to a local festival this weekend. I do love festivals. :) I can't wait to see the girls smiling faces and enjoy some old fashioned funnel cake! Yum! :) There's nothing like a fair to bring out the little girl in me! I am not really sure what my favorite part of a fair is. It cold be the funnel cake, or the cotton candy, or the games, or... well okay-I love it all! What are some of your favorite things about a fair/festival?

Hey loves! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! The girls, the hubbs, and I spent it enjoying the June summer weather and grilled out Saturday night! We had an excellent (much needed) easy relaxing Sunday! (I never imagined two teenage girls could wear ya down so fast!)

On another note, I did manage to squeeze a little craftiness in late one night. I do believe its one of my favorite diys to date! Since the girls are here to stay for a while we are all learning to readjust. I am hoping to help them find something they are passionate about so that they are able to use it as an outlet for self expression. Our oldest, Anna, has really started to love drawing and painting. Last night we stayed up till 3 talking about life, and painting. I had forgotten how much I used to love to paint. The youngest, Megan, is not really into anything except for Slipknot and Hollywood Undead. She fell asleep on the couch as Anna and I painted. I struggle with helping her find a passion because in that area we are so unlike. I want her to know I do however want to support her in whatever her interest may be. So I decided my painting that night would be for her. Here is a picture of it!

I know I have been neglecting my blog lately. It breaks my heart to do so because its very close to my heart. There has been so much going on lately I feel as if I am in a cloud. I am not really sure exactly what to say. I would love to be able to turn to my blog loves for help but this situation is very sensitive still. I am not sure that I have exactly wrapped my brain around it yet. In the meantime I am keeping myself busy with a million different projects. One of which is the website! Thats right, my precious two little sister-in-laws. We had to make a surprise trip to Arizona to get them! I am so glad to have them home! We are off for a girls day photo shoot today! For now here are some family road tripping pictures!

It feels like it's been weeks (when really it's been less than one) since I've gotten a chance to blog! I am finally home from my mother-daughter birthday trip! It took DAYS to unpack everything we bought, and get settled back in at our own houses! I got all kinds of goodies I hope to share with you later on in the week! I also decided I needed to rearrange my office to make room for all these wonderful new things so I am finishing that up as well! This week is going to be packed full of exciting things! It may get a little stressful but I'm ready!

The day before I left for our trip I offically had hit 100 followers! This is really exciting to me! I thought it was probably about time to do an "about me" posts for my new friends! This is actually a little harder than I thought it would be. Let's give this a shot.....

I'm 25 years old (as of this week) and married to an amazing man!
(It will be two years that we have been married at the end of this month!)

We want kids some day, but are in no hurry! ( Like maybe in 4 or 5 more years!) For now we play momma and daddy to my beautiful 3 year old, 2.5lb, mini yorkie--Coco Chanel. She is my best friend.

We are all really close to my parents. They live about 2 hours away but I try to go and see them at least weekly. And when the hubbs and I are lucky enough to get a weekend off together we try to go stay here, at my parent's cabins on the White River...talk about heaven on earth!

My dad is a pharmacist, and owns an old fashioned pharmacy and soda fountain in the little town I grew up in, Mountain View, Arkansas. (It also happens to be the folk music capital of the world!)

He is my rock when I need someone to lean on! This summer I will have an opportunity to do some marketing work for him! I couldn't be more excited!

My mother is also my best friend. She amazes me with her creativity every single day!

I have been trying to tell her for years she's too good at what she does! (She should have her own magazine for sure!) We are hoping to get her blogging big time this summer! You'll be seeing lots of her little projects because they just always blow me away!

And of course I can't leave out my little brother, Stinky.

I am so proud of him! He is 21 and in school in Tulsa to be a commercial pilot!

Okay, now that you know my family, maybe I should tell you a little more about me! I am in college, and have been off and on for 7 years. I'm very indecisive when it comes to choosing a degree. I hope to change schools once again and finish up a Public Relations degree at UCA over the next year. I took a year off to work as a pharmacy tech, and another year to get my real estate license. I wasn't passionate about working as a tech, and the real estate market did it's little dive shortly after I got my license. I started my own website as something to keep me busy, happy, and passionate. It has changed a lot over the past year. It started as vintage decor, grew into vintage decor and handmade headbands, and this summer I am excited to add vintage clothing and accessories! Here's a little sneak peek!

I have also been playing around with a little photography. I can't ever stick to one thing, i like to change it up, or I get bored! Who knows what may be next! The past four years I have also been lucky enough to work for a local sound company as a party DJ. It can be very stressful, but also a lot of fun! ( I have two exciting gigs this week!)

Whew, that wasn't so bad! :) I am so excited for the new chapters in my life this summer brings! I am even more excited I get to share it with a group of new online friends! Is there anything else you wanted to know? Feel free to ask! I am an open book!

The hubbs and I have spent it together! We started out with a few yard sales and flea markets! We spent most of the day taking it easy and I rearranged/organized my office! So refreshing! The rest of the evening we are grilling steaks, eating cake, and celebrating together! I don't feel a day older, just very excited for the next chapter in my life! It's finally summer, and things are looking up!

Hello dolls! It has been a busy, yet exciting week around here! I have one final left to go! (I'll be taking it first thing tomorrow morning!)Then I am off to Mountain View (where my parent's live!) to have a few photoshoots! Then Tuesday morning my adorable mother and I are headed off for a ....ROADTRIP! For my birthday gift we are spending a few days on the road, junking! We plan on heading towards Springfield, MO! To Write Love on Her Arms is a “non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.” The idea of a TWLOHA day is quite simple: write the word “love” on your arm on April 21st. The goal is to raise awareness of those who are hurting as well as promote TWLOHA’s work to provide hope, help, and support.

According to facebook, tomorrow is "To Write Love On Her Arms" Day! If you aren't familiar with this movement you can find more about it here!

Basically it's a movement to bring awareness and healing to those suffering from depression. I think it's a very awesome movement and I will be participating tomorrow by writing love on my arms to increase awareness and promote this amazing movement! I hope you consider doing the same! Wow! What a crazy weekend! I am so glad it's finally over! haha! My bff, and basically little sis-Jade, came over Friday night and we cast her beautiful pregnant belly and worked on a few finishing touches for her baby shower on Saturday! I ended up staying up till 4 am icing 100 little cupcakes! Here are some pictures I took at the shower!

I made this cute guestbook/gift list and cute little prediction cards!

She got so many wonderful gifts!

We even managed to squeeze in a few Mommy2Be shots!

So, Sunday finally rolled around and I had a photo-shoot with a few friends planned, but after they didn't show up I decided to take advantage of the free time and pretty day! Here's a few of the best shots of the afternoon!

It's my pleasure to feature LucidOpticLab today!

Age:
22 but I act more like im 60 something. I spend my weekends in my lil home art studio with a mug of tea and a cat on my lap as I paint away the rainy days. Kinda boring huh?

Location:
Portland Oregon

Occupation:
By day I am a mild mannered admin assistant at small IT company .
By evening and weekends I am a psychedelic mess of an acrylic painter, pen and ink illustrator and surrealist portrait photographer.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I have always found myself to be fascinated and drawn to powerful female figures and energy. I gather a lot of inspiration from studying various Goddesses of different beliefs and cultures. I am obsessed with all things paranormal. I have had a life long fascination with faeries, mermaids and…extra terrestrials!

What's your creative process?
It depends on the mood and intent. There are times where it’s hardly a process and more of an outburst. Other times its more controlled. In the past two years I have been basing a lot of my paintings off of pen and ink drawings that I do. I have been then transferring these pen and ink drawings onto canvas and painting them. In this way I have discovered a process that allows me to produce my artwork in an efficient manner and in a way where I have fun doing it to!

How did you get started?
I have been creating since I was a young one. I grew up in a very artistic environment which allowed me to express and nurture my inner creative fire. I can still remember sitting on the Venice Beach, CA board walk( my home town) selling my watercolor paintings at age 6 next to my mom as she played with her blues band to the passerbys on the strand. I started young, that I did!

How would you describe your style?
Ablaze with a strong sense of “not of this world” or “other”. My painting and drawing style is very graphic/illustration based with color playing a very psychedelic part in the grand scheme of things.

How would you describe your etsy?
At first glance I am sure my shop can be seen as trippy and “ outsider” but I feel there is something in there for everyone. In general it’s a color blast and a well of inspiration when taking in consideration all the tie dye, screen prints, paintings and art prints that are available at affordable prices.

or trying to anyways! Yesterday's IndieBiz class motivated me to get a little more organized. ( Trust me, It's much overdue.) Ive been printing income and expense sheets, filling orders, and getting organized this Thursday morning! Here's part of my new organization!:

Happy Easter weekend! The hubbs and I are working hard around the humble abode this weekend! My mother came to visit yesterday and brought several beautiful flowers (hydrangeas, lilies, daffodils, peonies, sweet williams and pansies!) We have been working hard to get them all planted! We also decided to paint our shutters and front door! (from a rust color to white shutters and a green door!) I am so excited!

We aren't going to get to celebrate Easter with our families this year so we are thinking about hosting a little pancake brunch for some friends! I may even get in the mood and dye some eggs tonight just for fun!

Directions:

Ahhh Spring has Sprung! & I offically have Spring Cleaning Fever! ( See previous posts for info on Spring Cleaning Sale in the shop!) I've spent most of the day cleaning and organizing in the office! I can't wait til the weekend! The hubbs and I have a huge home improvement weekend planned! (painting the front door and shutters, working in the flower beds, FINALLY hanging stuff on the walls!) Weekend Getaway

So I after I got off work yesterday I got to spend the whole evening nursing my sickly hubbs back to health. You know it's love when you do something you hate for your significant other. There's NOTHING I hate more than going in the market at 5. It's crowded, noisy, and the lines are forever long. Yesterday I decided to take one for the team and brave the busy market for fresh ingredients to make my ill hubbs homemade chicken noodle soup. It was worth it because I think it did the trick! (He's back at work today anyways!)
Today I am catching up on housework (eeek, laundry!) and packing our bags to head out of town for a weekend get away! We are headed to Mountain View, Arkansas. It's where I grew up and my parents still live! It's only about a 2 hour drive, but any excuse to get away we'll take! We are both really excited because another couple that we are good friends with are joining us! We are staying in my parent's cabin on the river. Here's a few pictures to make you jealous! ;)

And we'll spend some time in town where there will be a lot of people doing this:
My hometown is very unique, I could write a whole post just on it. (Maybe I should add that to the list?) Anyways, the plan is to wake up in the morning and have breakfast (I'm talking homemade chocolate gravy!) downtown at this little dive cafe with my dad and all his "flying friends" from the airport. (This is a typical Saturday morning thing for them.) Then the boys are off to fish while the girls take in the shopping and maybe a hike? After that we are all going to have lunch at my parent's Old Fashioned Soda Fountain, and visit my parents! That night we plan to cook up whatever the boys caught! I can't wait! I'll take lots of pictures to share with you!

Sorry about Friday! Things were super crazy busy all last week, and I have a feeling they will be this week as well! The sunshine somehow seems to revive my soul every single day it decides to show its beautiful self around here. The day started out extremely busy and fun filled! I finally gave in and bought both the hubbs and I iphones. Then headed off to my friend's store (Where I scored some pretty awesome things I'll show you tomorrow!) and then to get a mani & pedi! It's been sooo long since I've done so! After the morning running errands around town I came home to fill a few orders! Now I'm working on getting a few business ideas organized for a meeting with a possible partner tomorrow! And getting my hair done and eating sushi w/ my best tonight! Lots of fun and exciting things going on! The best part was getting an adorable onesie (that I bought for my preggers friend) in the mail from Eleise!

Happy saint patty's day! The fresh air and list full of errands to be ran persuaded me to get out of bed little earlier than usual this morning. The sunshine peaking through the clouds, and then through my blinds to dance upon my pillowcase helped me be able to do it with a bit of smile, and less reluctance than usual. I ran most of my errands and topped the morning off with a trip to the market.
There's nothing like buying my own fresh flowers from the market. It's more blissful for me than what its normal I'm sure. The second I step into the area the sight of fresh flowers creates sparkles in my eyes, and the smell of fresh cut flowers fills my nose. As i exhale I feel as if surrounded by a little bit of magic. The whole markets seems to pause and fade away. The sound of music fills my soul as I excitedly scan through the beautiful shapes and colors deciding what lucky bouquets will be adorning my kitchen bar. And one phrase in particular always comes to mind, and causes a chain reaction in my body resulting a grin upon my face. "Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself." This is the opening line from my all time favorite book- "Mrs. Dalloway" by Virginia Woolfe. ( If you haven't read it, you should, and can here )
I excitedly ran home and put up my groceries, and created a quick arrangement of my new fresh flowers. Ahh, the simple things in life. :)

I've been so busy the past few days! I'm working up at my friend Kathy's store-- "The Queens Cottage" It's the cutest house turned thrift store packed full of quirky little finds! It's not doing me much good to work though because I ALWAYS find something I just have to buy! So here's a few of my finds this week!

And last but not least... The Swinger! I have a small Polaroid and old camera collection and this is the perfect new addition! It's in AMAZING shape, came in the box with the paper work and everything! Guess how much I paid for it....You won't believe it! A whole eight dollars! I know, you're jealous! ;)

A day late, and a dollar short...

Please forgive me for my absence the past few days! I have been overwhelmed with the length of my to-do list! So here's a megapost to get you all caught up! :D
After my photoshoot with Ashley (last post) I headed to do a photoshoot with my best friend (basically my babi sis -Jade!) Here's some of those pics!

We did a few outside, then moved inside for a cupcake session! ;)

Oh, and of course I have to show you this little brag book I'm working on for her!

So after a day full of busy photoshoots the hubbs and I headed to see my parents for the weekend! It was so beautiful out! I loved soaking up some sun!

Dad wanted me to take a picture of him and mom ( Who refused to cooperate!) They were too cute not to share!

Then Mom helped me make this beautiful wreath for my screen door!

I spent the rest of the day working on my Indie Biz folder.

Then, once we got home, the hubbs and I did a little work around the house (including like 9 loads of laundry!) and I even made some cupcakes for my friend Ashley!

Then I got busy making more headbands! (Check out the SHOP!) And here's a sneak peek at somemore coming soon!
